If you focus on the 'artificial plants', plants that linger quietly without being scientifically studied or observed like natural plants, you realise that each one is in fact very unique. In addition to differences in material, colour, pattern and structure, traces of human and machine work, such as misprinting and burrs, give them individuality. A flower in a vase soaks up water, blooms prettily and then fades away, while a mass of plastic stands in an empty vase without water, their petals open in a constant state. By daring to observe both on the same stage, it explores a new way of looking at the world at a time when the boundaries between the natural and the artificial are beginning to dissolve.

天然植物のように科学的に研究や観察されることなく静かに佇む「造花」という植物に焦点をあててみると、そのひとつひとつが実は個性的で表情豊かであることに気づかされます。素材、色、柄、構造などの違いに加え、印刷のずれやにじみ、プラスチックのバリなど、人や機械の痕跡が個性を与えています。花瓶の水をぐんぐんと吸い上げ可憐に咲き誇りやがてちりゆく花々と、水のない空っぽの花瓶で花びらを一定に開いたままそこに佇むプラスチックのかたまり。その両者をあえて同じ舞台で観察することで、自然と人工の境界線が溶け合い始めたこの時代の新しい世界の見方を探究します。
